Olivine (or Peridot)

Olivine, also known as peridot, is an olive-green gemstone that is often mistaken for emeralds and has been used in ring designs since ancient Egypt when it was mined from a small island in the Red Sea. Due to its chemical instability, olivine is usually packed with imperfections and that is the reason why many gemstones are small.


Amber

Although amber is not technically a gemstone and doesn't have a specific chemical formula, it is one of the most beautiful ornaments available. Conifers produce a resin which becomes fossilized over time. The resin is highly prized for its imperfections, and even more so when it's containing small insects. The color usually ranges from light yellow to a reddish shade, although blue and green ambers are mined in the Caribbean.
